External Review of AUQA

In line with AUQA’s commitment to quality improvement, in 2001 the inaugural Board commissioned an external review of AUQA, to be undertaken towards the end of the first audit cycle. The review took place in February 2006 and was based on AUQA’s Performance Portfolio, which was prepared in the second half of 2005, and feedback from external groups. The review was undertaken by an External Review Panel consisting of two heads of quality agencies outside Australia and representatives of the main Australian stakeholders in higher education.

The purpose of the review was to investigate the extent to which AUQA is achieving its objectives, and its vision, and how well it complies with international good practice for quality assurance agencies. The External Review Panel was also encouraged to comment on future activities including the nature of and arrangements for cycle 2 audits. The Review Report contains commendations, affirmations and recommendations addressed to AUQA and AUQA’s members respectively.
